Early Life

Jade Rawlings, the accomplished AFL coach, hails from a humble beginning that shaped his journey in the world of Australian Rules Football.

Growing up in a modest environment, Rawlings developed a strong work ethic and determination from an early age. These qualities would later define his approach to both playing and coaching in the AFL.

Rawlings learned the value of hard work and perseverance, which helped him navigate the challenges of professional football. His upbringing instilled in him the resilience needed to overcome setbacks and aim for success in his career.

Playing Career

During his time as a professional footballer, Rawlings played a total of 116 games for Hawthorn before moving to the Western Bulldogs in 2004.

At the Bulldogs, Rawlings faced challenges with kicking accuracy which impacted his performance. Despite this, his dedication and hard work were evident throughout his playing career.

In 2006, Rawlings was traded to the Kangaroos where he continued to contribute to the team’s efforts on the field. His shift between clubs showcased his adaptability and commitment to the sport.

Rawlings’ playing career laid the foundation for his future endeavors in coaching, providing him with valuable insights and experiences that would later shape his coaching style and approach.

Coaching Career

Rawlings moved into coaching following his playing career, venturing on a journey that saw him serve in various coaching roles across different AFL clubs. His coaching career began as an assistant coach at Richmond from 2007 to 2009, where he later took over as the caretaker senior coach. Rawlings then moved on to become an assistant coach at the Brisbane Lions in 2010 and 2011 before taking on the role of backline coach at the Melbourne Football Club from 2012 onwards. He also coached the Casey Demons in the VFL until 2019. Following this, Rawlings returned to the Melbourne Football Club as an assistant coach and later became an assistant coach at North Melbourne in 2020, where he was unfortunately sacked at the end of the 2020 season. He was then appointed as the senior coach at Norwood Football Club in 2020 and successfully led them to a SANFL premiership in 2022.
