In 1994, Neeld moved to Richmond where he played 26 games and kicked 16 goals before retiring after the 1996 AFL season.

Neeld then took on roles as the defensive and midfield assistant coach at Collingwood Football Club.
In 2012, he was appointed as the senior coach of Melbourne Football Club but was dismissed in 2013 due to a disappointing performance, with a coaching record showing a winning percentage of 15.2%.
Neeld later participated in coaching at Essendon Football Club from 2014 to 2018 before pursuing a successful career in basketball administration.
